سورة الجاثية
اٰیاتہا 37
 The Kneeling / Al Jathiyah (Recite)

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
اللہ کے نام سے شروع جو نہایت مہربان رحم والا
حٰـمۗ1 
حم ۔
And the one who said to his parents, “Uff - I am fed up with both of you! What! You promise me that I will be raised again whereas generations have passed away before me?” And they both seek Allah’s help and say to him, “May you be ruined, accept faith!
تَنْزِيْلُ الْكِتٰبِ مِنَ اللّٰهِ الْعَزِيْزِ الْحَكِيْمِ2 
کتاب کا اُتارنا ہے اللہ عزت و حکمت والے کی طرف سے۔
It is these upon whom the Word has proved true, among the nations that passed away before them, of jinns and men; indeed they were losers.
اِنَّ فِي السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ لَاٰيٰتٍ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ3 
بے شک آسمانوں اور زمین میں نشانیاں ہیں ایمان والوں کے لیے۔
And for all persons are ranks according to their deeds; and so that He may repay them in full for their deeds, and they will not be wronged.
وَفِيْ خَلْقِكُمْ وَمَا يَبُثُّ مِنْ دَاۗبَّةٍ اٰيٰتٌ لِّقَوْمٍ يُّوْقِنُوْنَ4 
اور تمہاری پیدائش میں اور جو جو جانور وہ پھیلاتا ہے ان میں نشانیاں ہیں یقین والوں کے لیے۔
And on the day when the disbelievers will be presented upon the fire; it will be said to them, “You have wasted your portion of the good things in the life of this world and enjoyed them; so this day you will be repaid with the disgraceful punishment, th
وَاخْتِلَافِ الَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ وَمَآ اَنْزَلَ اللّٰهُ مِنَ السَّمَاۗءِ مِنْ رِّزْقٍ فَاَحْيَا بِهِ الْاَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا وَتَــصْرِيْفِ الرِّيٰحِ اٰيٰتٌ لِّقَوْمٍ يَّعْقِلُوْنَ5 
اور رات اور دن کی تبدیلیوں میں اور اس میں کہ اللہ نے آسمان سے روزی کا سبب مینہ اُتارا تو اس سے زمین کو اس کے مرے پیچھے زندہ کیا اور ہواؤں کی گردش میں نشانیاں ہیں عقل مندوں کے لیے۔
And remember the fellowman of the tribe of A’ad; when he warned his nation in the Ahqaf * - and indeed Heralds of warning passed away before and after him - that, “Do not worship anyone except Allah; indeed I fear the punishment of a Great Day upon you.
تِلْكَ اٰيٰتُ اللّٰهِ نَتْلُوْهَا عَلَيْكَ بِالْحَقِّ ۚ فَبِاَيِّ حَدِيْثٍۢ بَعْدَ اللّٰهِ وَاٰيٰتِهٖ يُؤْمِنُوْنَ6 
یہ اللہ کی آیتیں ہیں کہ ہم تم پر حق کے ساتھ پڑھتے ہیں پھر اللہ اور اس کی آیتوں کو چھوڑ کر کونسی بات پر ایمان لائیں گے۔
They said, “Have you come to us in order to turn us away from our Gods? Therefore bring upon us what you promise us, if you are truthful.”
وَيْلٌ لِّكُلِّ اَفَّاكٍ اَثِيْمٍ7 
خرابی ہے ہر بڑے بہتان ہائے گنہگار کے لیے۔
He said, “Its knowledge is only with Allah; and I convey to you the messages of my Lord, but I perceive that you are an ignorant nation.”
يَّسْمَعُ اٰيٰتِ اللّٰهِ تُتْلٰى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ يُصِرُّ مُسْتَكْبِرًا كَاَنْ لَّمْ يَسْمَعْهَا ۚ فَبَشِّرْهُ بِعَذَابٍ اَلِيْمٍ8 
اللہ کی آیتوں کو سنتا ہے کہ اس پر پڑھی جاتی ہیں پھر ہَٹ پر جمتا ہے غرور کرتا گویا انھیں سُنا ہی نہیں تو اُسے خوش خبری سناؤ درد ناک عذاب کی۔
So when they saw the punishment coming towards their valleys, spread like a cloud on the horizon, they said, “That is a cloud which will shower rain upon us”; said Hud “In fact this is what you were being impatient for; a windstorm carrying a painful pun
وَاِذَا عَلِمَ مِنْ اٰيٰتِنَا شَيْئَۨا اتَّخَذَهَا هُزُوًا ۭ اُولٰۗىِٕكَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُّهِيْنٌ9 
اور جب ہماری آیتوں میں سے کسی پر اطلاع پائے اس کی ہنسی بناتا ہے اُن کے لیے خواری کا عذاب۔
“That destroys all things by the command of its Lord” - so at morning none could be seen except their empty houses; this is the sort of punishment We mete out to the guilty.
مِنْ وَّرَاۗىِٕهِمْ جَهَنَّمُ ۚ وَلَا يُغْنِيْ عَنْهُمْ مَّا كَسَبُوْا شَيْـــــًٔا وَّلَا مَا اتَّخَذُوْا مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِ اَوْلِيَاۗءَ ۚ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيْمٌ10 
اُن کے پیچھے جہنم ہے اور اُنھیں کچھ کام نہ دے گا ان کا کمایا ہوا اور نہ وہ جو اللہ کے سوا حمایتی ٹھہرا رکھے تھے اور ان کے لیے بڑا عذاب ہے۔
And We had indeed given them the means which We have not given you, and made ears and eyes and hearts for them; so their ears and eyes and hearts did not benefit them at all because they used to deny the signs of Allah, and the punishment they used to mo
ھٰذَا هُدًى ۚ وَالَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا بِاٰيٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مِّنْ رِّجْزٍ اَلِيْمٌ   ۧ11 
یہ راہ دکھانا ہے اور جنھوں نے اپنے رب کی آیتوں کو نہ مانا اُن کے لیے دردناک عذاب میں سے سخت تر عذاب ہے۔
And We indeed destroyed townships surrounding you, and brought several signs so that they may desist.
اَللّٰهُ الَّذِيْ سَخَّرَ لَكُمُ الْبَحْرَ لِتَجْرِيَ الْفُلْكُ فِيْهِ بِاَمْرِهٖ وَلِتَبْتَغُوْا مِنْ فَضْلِهٖ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُوْنَ12 
اللہ ہے جس نے تمہارے بس میں دریا کردیا کہ اس میں اس کے حکم سے کشتیاں چلیں اور اس لیے کہ اس کا فضل تلاش کرو اور اس لیے کہ حق مانو۔
So why did they - the ones whom they had chosen as Gods as a means of attaining Allah’s proximity - not help them? In fact the disbelievers lost them; and this is just their slander and fabrication.
وَسَخَّرَ لَكُمْ مَّا فِي السَّمٰوٰتِ وَمَا فِي الْاَرْضِ جَمِيْعًا مِّنْهُ ۭ اِنَّ فِيْ ذٰلِكَ لَاٰيٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَّتَفَكَّرُوْنَ13 
اور تمہارے لیے کام میں لگائے جو کچھ آسمانوں میں ہیں اور جو کچھ زمین میں اپنے حکم سے بے شک اس میں نشا نیاں ہیں سوچنے والوں کے لیے۔
And when We sent a number of jinns towards you (O dear Prophet Mohammed - peace and blessings be upon him), listening attentively to the Qur’an; so when they presented themselves there, they said to each other, “Listen quietly!”; and when the recitation
قُلْ لِّلَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا يَغْفِرُوْا لِلَّذِيْنَ لَا يَرْجُوْنَ اَيَّامَ اللّٰهِ لِيَجْزِيَ قَوْمًۢا بِمَا كَانُوْا يَكْسِبُوْنَ14 
ایمان وا لوں سے فرماؤ درگزریں اُن سے جو اللہ کے دنوں کی امید نہیں رکھتے تاکہ اللہ ایک قوم کو اس کی کمائی کا بدلہ دے۔
They said, “O our people! We have indeed heard a Book, sent down after Moosa, which confirms the Books preceding it, and guides towards the Truth and the Straight Path.”
مَنْ عَمِلَ صَالِحًا فَلِنَفْسِهٖ ۚ وَمَنْ اَسَاۗءَ فَعَلَيْهَا ۡ ثُمَّ اِلٰى رَبِّكُمْ تُرْجَعُوْنَ15 
جو بھلا کام کرے تو اپنے لیے اور بُرا کرے تو اپنے بُرے کو پھر اپنے رب کی طرف پھیرے جاؤ گے۔
“O our people! Listen to Allah’s caller and accept faith in Him, so that He may forgive you some of your sins and save you from the painful punishment.”
وَلَقَدْ اٰتَيْنَا بَنِيْٓ اِسْرَاۗءِيْلَ الْكِتٰبَ وَالْحُكْمَ وَالنُّبُوَّةَ وَرَزَقْنٰهُمْ مِّنَ الطَّيِّبٰتِ وَفَضَّلْنٰهُمْ عَلَي الْعٰلَمِيْنَ16 
اور بے شک ہم نے بنی اسرائیل کو کتاب اور حکومت اور نبوت عطا فرمائی اور ہم نے اُنھیں ستھری روزیاں دیں اور اُنھیں اُن کے زمانہ والوں پر فضیلت بخشی۔
“And whoever does not listen to Allah’s caller cannot escape in the earth, and he has no supporters against Allah; they are in open error.”
وَاٰتَيْنٰهُمْ بَيِّنٰتٍ مِّنَ الْاَمْرِ ۚ فَمَا اخْتَلَفُوْٓا اِلَّا مِنْۢ بَعْدِ مَا جَاۗءَهُمُ الْعِلْمُ ۙ بَغْيًۢا بَيْنَهُمْ ۭ اِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَقْضِيْ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِ فِيْمَا كَانُوْا فِيْهِ يَخْتَلِفُوْنَ17 
اور ہم نے اُنھیں اس کام کی روشن دلیلیں دیں تو اُنھوں نے اختلاف نہ کیا مگر بعد اس کے کہ علم اُن کے پاس آچکا آپس کے حسد سے بے شک تمہارا رب قیامت کے دن اُن میں فیصلہ کردے گا جس بات میں اختلاف کرتے ہیں ۔
Have they not realised that Allah, Who did not tire in creating the heavens and the earth and in creating them, is Able to revive the dead? Surely yes, why not? Indeed He is Able to do all things.
ثُمَّ جَعَلْنٰكَ عَلٰي شَرِيْعَةٍ مِّنَ الْاَمْرِ فَاتَّبِعْهَا وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ اَهْوَاۗءَ الَّذِيْنَ لَا يَعْلَمُوْنَ18 
پھر ہم نے اس کام کے عمدہ راستہ پر تمہیں کیا تو اسی راہ چلو اور نادانوں کی خواہشوں کا ساتھ نہ دو۔
And on the day when the disbelievers are presented upon the fire; it will be said, “Is this not a reality?” They will answer, “By oath of our Lord, surely yes, why not?”; it will be said, “Therefore taste the punishment, the recompense of your disbelief.
اِنَّهُمْ لَنْ يُّغْنُوْا عَنْكَ مِنَ اللّٰهِ شَيْـــــًٔا ۭ وَاِنَّ الظّٰلِمِيْنَ بَعْضُهُمْ اَوْلِيَاۗءُ بَعْضٍ ۚ وَاللّٰهُ وَلِيُّ الْمُتَّقِيْنَ19 
بے شک وہ اللہ کے مقابل تمہیں کچھ کام نہ دیں گے اور بے شک ظالم ایک دوسرے کے دوست ہیں اور ڈر والوں کا دوست اللہ ۔
Therefore patiently endure (O dear Prophet Mohammed - peace and blessings be upon him) like the courageous Noble Messengers had endured, and do not be impatient for them; on the day when they see what they are promised, it will be as if they had not stay
ھٰذَا بَصَاۗىِٕرُ لِلنَّاسِ وَهُدًى وَّرَحْمَةٌ لِّقَوْمٍ يُّوْقِنُوْنَ20 
یہ لوگوں کی آنکھیں کھولنا ہے اور ایمان والوں کے لیے ہدایت و رحمت۔
“Allah has destroyed the deeds of those who disbelieved and prevented from Allah’s way.”
اَمْ حَسِبَ الَّذِيْنَ اجْتَرَحُوا السَّيِّاٰتِ اَنْ نَّجْعَلَهُمْ كَالَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ ۙ سَوَاۗءً مَّحْيَاهُمْ وَمَمَاتُهُمْ ۭ سَاۗءَ مَا يَحْكُمُوْنَ   ۧ21 
کیا جنھوں نے برائیوں کا اِرتکاب کیا یہ سمجھتے ہیں کہ ہم اُنھیں ان جیسا کردیں گے جو ایمان لائے اور اچھے کام کئے کہ اِن کی اُن کی زندگی اور موت برابر ہوجائے کیا ہی بُرا حکم لگاتے ہیں ۔
“And those who accepted faith and did good deeds and believed in what has been sent down upon me, Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him) - and that is the truth from their Lord - Allah has relieved them of some of their evils and refined their condit
وَخَلَقَ اللّٰهُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضَ بِالْحَقِّ وَلِتُجْزٰى كُلُّ نَفْسٍۢ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُوْنَ22 
اور اللہ نے آسمانوں اور زمین کو حق کے ساتھ بنایا اور اس لیے کہ ہر جان اپنے کئے کا بدلہ پائے اور اُن پر ظلم نہ ہوگا۔
This is because the disbelievers followed falsehood and the believers followed the Truth which is from their Lord; this is how Allah illustrates the examples of people to them.
اَفَرَءَيْتَ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ اِلٰــهَهٗ هَوٰىهُ وَاَضَلَّهُ اللّٰهُ عَلٰي عِلْمٍ وَّخَتَمَ عَلٰي سَمْعِهٖ وَقَلْبِهٖ وَجَعَلَ عَلٰي بَصَرِهٖ غِشٰوَةً ۭ فَمَنْ يَّهْدِيْهِ مِنْۢ بَعْدِ اللّٰهِ ۭ اَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُوْنَ23 
بھلا دیکھو تو وہ جس نے اپنی خواہش کو اپنا خدا ٹھہرالیا اور اللہ نے اُسے با وصف علم کے گمراہ کیا اور اس کے کان اور دل پر مہر لگادی اور اس کی آنکھوں پر پردہ ڈالا تو اللہ کے بعد اُسے کون راہ دکھائے تو کیا تم دھیان نہیں کرتے۔
So when you confront the disbelievers, strike at their necks; until when you have slain them in plenty, tie them up firmly; then after that, you may either release them as a favour or take ransom, until the war lays down its ordeal; this is it; and had A
وَقَالُوْا مَا هِىَ اِلَّا حَيَاتُنَا الدُّنْيَا نَمُوْتُ وَنَحْيَا وَمَا يُهْلِكُنَآ اِلَّا الدَّهْرُ ۚ وَمَا لَهُمْ بِذٰلِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ ۚ اِنْ هُمْ اِلَّا يَظُنُّوْنَ24 
اور بولے وہ تو نہیں مگر یہی ہماری دنیا کی زندگی مرتے ہیں اور جیتے ہیں اور ہمیں ہلاک نہیں کرتا مگر زمانہ اور اُنھیں اس کا علم نہیں وہ تو نرے گمان دوڑاتے ہیں ۔
He will soon guide them (towards Paradise) and make them succeed.
وَاِذَا تُتْلٰى عَلَيْهِمْ اٰيٰتُنَا بَيِّنٰتٍ مَّا كَانَ حُجَّـــتَهُمْ اِلَّآ اَنْ قَالُوا ائْتُوْا بِاٰبَاۗىِٕنَآ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ صٰدِقِيْنَ25 
اور جب اُن پر ہماری روشن آیتیں پڑھی جائیں تو بس اُن کی حجت یہی ہوتی ہے کہ کہتے ہیں ہمارے باپ دادا کو لے آؤ تم اگر سچے ہو۔
And He will admit them into Paradise - they have been made familiar with it.
قُلِ اللّٰهُ يُحْيِيْكُمْ ثُمَّ يُمِيْتُكُمْ ثُمَّ يَجْمَعُكُمْ اِلٰى يَوْمِ الْقِيٰمَةِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيْهِ وَلٰكِنَّ اَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُوْنَ   ۧ26 
تم فرماؤ اللہ تمہیں جِلاتا ہے پھر تم کو مارے گا پھر تم سب کو اکٹھا کرے گا قیامت کے دن جس میں کوئی شک نہیں لیکن بہت آدمی نہیں جانتے۔
O People who Believe! If you help the religion of Allah, He will help you and will stabilise you.
وَلِلّٰهِ مُلْكُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ ۭ وَيَوْمَ تَقُوْمُ السَّاعَةُ يَوْمَىِٕذٍ يَّخْسَرُ الْمُبْطِلُوْنَ27 
اور اللہ ہی کے لیے ہے آسمانوں اور زمین کی سلطنت اور جس دن قیامت قائم ہوگی باطل والوں کی اس دن ہار ہے۔
And for those who disbelieve - may they be ruined, and may Allah destroy all their deeds!
وَتَرٰى كُلَّ اُمَّةٍ جَاثِيَةً ۣ كُلُّ اُمَّةٍ تُدْعٰٓى اِلٰى كِتٰبِهَا ۭ اَلْيَوْمَ تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُوْنَ28 
اور تم ہر گروہ کو دیکھو گے زانو کے بل گرے ہوئے ہر گروہ اپنے نامۂ اعمال کی طرف بلایا جائے گا آج تمہیں تمہارے کئے کا بدلہ دیا جائے گا۔
This is because they disliked what Allah has sent down - He has therefore squandered all their deeds.
ھٰذَا كِتٰبُنَا يَنْطِقُ عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْحَقِّ ۭ اِنَّا كُنَّا نَسْتَنْسِخُ مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُوْنَ29 
ہمارا یہ نَوِشْتَہ تم پر حق بولتا ہے ہم لکھتے رہے تھے جو تم نے کیا۔
So did they not travel in the land to see what sort of fate befell those who preceded them? Allah poured ruin upon them; and for the disbelievers are several like it.
فَاَمَّا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ فَيُدْخِلُهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ فِيْ رَحْمَتِهٖ ۭ ذٰلِكَ هُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْمُبِيْنُ30 
تو وہ جو ایمان لائے اور اچھے کام کیے ان کا رب انھیں اپنی رحمت میں لے گا یہی کھلی کامیابی ہے۔
This is because Allah is the Supporter of the believers, whereas the disbelievers do not have any supporter.
وَاَمَّا الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا ۣ اَفَلَمْ تَكُنْ اٰيٰتِيْ تُتْلٰى عَلَيْكُمْ فَاسْتَكْبَرْتُمْ وَكُنْتُمْ قَوْمًا مُّجْرِمِيْنَ31 
اور جو کافر ہوئے ان سے فرمایا جائے گا کیا نہ تھا کہ میری آیتیں پڑھی جاتی تھیں تو تم تکبر کرتے تھے اور تم مجرم لوگ تھے۔
Allah will indeed admit those who believed and did good deeds into Gardens beneath which rivers flow; and the disbelievers enjoy, and they eat like the cattle eat, and their destination is in the fire.
وَاِذَا قِيْلَ اِنَّ وَعْدَ اللّٰهِ حَقٌّ وَّالسَّاعَةُ لَا رَيْبَ فِيْهَا قُلْتُمْ مَّا نَدْرِيْ مَا السَّاعَةُ ۙ اِنْ نَّظُنُّ اِلَّا ظَنًّا وَّمَا نَحْنُ بِمُسْتَيْقِنِيْنَ32 
اور جب کہا جاتا بے شک اللہ کا وعدہ سچا ہے اور قیامت میں شک نہیں تم کہتے ہم نہیں جانتے قیامت کیا چیز ہے ہمیں تو یونہی کچھ گمان سا ہوتا ہے اور ہمیں یقین نہیں ۔
And many a township existed which was stronger than your town (O dear Prophet Mohammed - peace and blessings be upon him) - those who removed you from your town - We destroyed them, so they do not have a supporter!
وَبَدَا لَهُمْ سَيِّاٰتُ مَا عَمِلُوْا وَحَاقَ بِهِمْ مَّا كَانُوْا بِهٖ يَسْتَهْزِءُوْنَ33 
اور اُن پر کھل گئیں ان کے کاموں کی بُرائیاں اور اُنھیں گھیرلیا اس عذاب نے جس کی ہنسی بناتے تھے۔
So will one who is upon on a clear proof from his Lord, ever be like any of those whose evil deeds are made to appear good to them and they follow their own desires?
وَقِيْلَ الْيَوْمَ نَنْسٰـىكُمْ كَمَا نَسِيْتُمْ لِقَاۗءَ يَوْمِكُمْ ھٰذَا وَمَاْوٰىكُمُ النَّارُ وَمَا لَكُمْ مِّنْ نّٰصِرِيْنَ34 
اور فرمایا جائے گا آج ہم تمہیں چھوڑدیں گے جیسے تم اپنے اس دن کے ملنے کو بھولے ہوئے تھے اور تمہارا ٹھکانا آ گ ہے اور تمہارا کوئی مددگار نہیں ۔
A description of the Garden which is promised to the pious; in it are rivers of water which shall never pollute; and rivers of milk the taste of which shall never change; and rivers of wine delicious to drink; and rivers of purified honey; and in it for
ذٰلِكُمْ بِاَنَّكُمُ اتَّخَذْتُمْ اٰيٰتِ اللّٰهِ هُزُوًا وَّغَرَّتْكُمُ الْحَيٰوةُ الدُّنْيَا ۚ فَالْيَوْمَ لَا يُخْرَجُوْنَ مِنْهَا وَلَا هُمْ يُسْتَعْتَبُوْنَ35 
یہ اس لیے کہ تم نے اللہ کی آیتوں کا ٹھٹا بنایا اور دنیا کی زندگی نے تمہیں فریب دیا تو آج نہ وہ آگ سے نکالے جائیں اور نہ اُن سے کوئی منانا چاہے۔
And among them are some who listen to what you say; until when they go away from you, they say to those who have been given knowledge, “What did he say now?”; they are those whose hearts Allah has sealed, and they follow their own desires.
فَلِلّٰهِ الْحَمْدُ رَبِّ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَرَبِّ الْاَرْضِ رَبِّ الْعٰلَمِيْنَ36 
تو اللہ ہی کے لیے سب خوبیاں ہیں آسمانوں کا رب اور زمین کا رب اور سارے جہاں کا رب۔
And those who attained the right path - Allah increases the guidance for them and bestows their piety to them.
وَلَهُ الْكِبْرِيَاۗءُ فِي السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ ۠ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيْزُ الْحَـكِيْمُ   ۧ37 
اور اسی کے لیے بڑائی ہے آسمانوں اور زمین میں اور وہی عزت و حکمت والا ہے۔
So what are they waiting for, except that the Last Day suddenly come upon them? For its signs have already appeared; so when it does come, of what use is their realising it?
